The famously loose globular cluster lives up to the expectations: its big surface (about as big as M 13) is characterized by an inhomogenious glow. It is neither bright nor faint. Its stars are not resolved but it's very inhomogenious: many bigger spots are visible on its surface. Though it's very loose it still shows some concentration towards the center.
