Milky Way Center

Milky Way Center

Description

I wanted to have a classic diagonally composed photo of the Milky Way center. The 10mm lens sees almost the whole sky. So this is pretty much what is above your head in the southern hemishpere. The photo was taken at the Hakos astrofarm, Namibia. Mars and Saturn are visible above Antares in the photo.

Technical data:

  • Date: 2016. 05. 09/10.
  • Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6, 10mm, f/5.6
  • Camera: Canon EOS 450D (not modified)
  • Exposure: 9 x 7 minutes, ISO 1600
  • Tracking: Star Adventurer

Thanks to Iván and Sanyi for lending me the Star Adventurer mount. The camera is not modified therefore the HII nebulae are not so beautiful. I didn't use a flat-field during the processing because I had not managed to make a proper flat for the 10mm lens.
