M 48 in Hydra is the heart shaped open cluster. The bright, dense center of the cluster is encircled by a heart shaped chain of bright stars. This makes the early spring Messier cluster absolutely unique. A friend of mine showed me this feature around 2000. Since then I like this cluster.
