It is maybe the drawing of spoked spiral galaxies that gives the salt and pepper of deep-sky observing. These strange galaxies have always been attracting me. And in particular I was dreaming for almost 20 years about seeing the spiral structure on NGC 1530 with my own eyes. Just like in the case of many barred spirals, the spokes are the first thing one notices by looking at this galaxy. Two brighter spots are visible at the edges of the bar, at the beginnings of the arms. The arms are really faint. A couple of months after my drawing was made we took a look at this galaxy together with Sándor Szabó and Gáspár Bakos at the star party in Tarján with the 20" Dobsonian. We couldn't see more details than with the 16" Dobsonian. Moreover the galaxy seemed to be pretty faint.
